Dormeasan
is a traditional herbal medicinal product used for the temporary relief
of sleep disturbances resulting from symptoms of mild anxiety,
exclusively based on long-standing use as a traditional remedy.
Uses
- Helps restore natural sleep
- Calming
- Helps you to wake feeling refreshed
According
to their website ‘when taken just half an hour before bed-time can
quickly help to restore undisturbed sleep aiding you to sleep better and
wake feeling refreshed’ Dormeasan is not a 'sleeping pill' it is a
sleeping aid so it won't normally leave you feeling groggy in the
morning.
Ingredients
Dormeasan oral drops are a combination extract of fresh, organic Valerian and Hops.
How it Works?
Valerian - Valerian
is a herb native to Europe, the roots of which have been used
throughout history as a sedative. The exact mechanism of action of
valerian is still not fully understood, although research points to the
production of an inhibitory neurotransmitter called GABA (gamma
aminobutyric acid). Valerian extract has been shown in in vitro
studies to stimulate the release of GABA from nerve endings in brain
cells, and also to subsequently block its reuptake. However the exact
chemical within valerian that does this has yet to be isolated, which is
why valerian extracts are taken from the whole of the essential oil
extracted from the root.
Hops - Hops
are well-known as the chief constituent of most beer, and like
valerian, are native to Europe. Their sedative effect is thought to be
caused by the presence of methylbutenol (2-methyl-3-butene-2-ol), but
research has proven inconclusive because the methylbutenol is volatile
and therefore hard to isolate from the extract of hops. This is one of
the reasons why Dormeasan exists as a tincture rather than a tablet.
Alcohol
- Dormeasan combines valerian and hops in an alcoholic tincture. This
ethanol is a very low dose, corresponding to about 0.05 of a unit of
alcohol, or a tablespoonful of beer.
Clinical Trials
In
a placebo-controlled trial carried out on Dormeasan at a German sleep
laboratory, patients taking Dormeasan spent more time deeply asleep than
the patients taking placebo, and had better sleep cycles. The result of
deeper sleep on a more regular cycle is that you wake feeling refreshed
and restored – something that many people miss out on even when
managing to sleep for sufficient hours.
Directions for use:
Take 30 drops in a little water half an hour before bedtime.
Remember
- This product contains ethanol. And so is harmful for people suffering from alcoholism.
- Not for use in children or those under 18.
Our Opinion
Dormeasan
is an excellent supplement for anyone having sleeping difficulties and
comes from an tried and tested brand name Vogel. A typical 50ml bottle
allows for nearly a months supply so at €10.50 is a great price. The
presence of alcohol in the mixture is not ideal but it allows maximum
effectiveness. An important thing to note is that if you are having
sleeping difficulties, and it is a lot more serious than ‘a little
worrying or minor stress’ then visit your GP for professional advice.
